  7. Spain  has  quite a lot of good bands.
  8. Even   though  they're  good,  they're
  9. unknown, basically because of the lack
  10. of  strong  independant producers, and
  11. the  reticence  of  radio  stations to
  12. have  good alternative music programs.
  13. A  kind  of  music  which  is  usually
  14. tagged  as  "pure british" is punk.  I
  15. have  heard  good punk from France and
  16. the  Netherlands.  And spanish punk is
  17. also extremely good.  I will only talk
  18. about   one   band,  from  the  basque
  19. country.    In  this  part  of  Spain,
  20. you'll  be  able  to  find millions of
  21. bands   like   that.   They're  really
  22. interesting,    and,    unfortunately,
  23. unknown outside Spain.  Of course, all
  24. the parts of Spain which are exploited
  25. have    this    bands    (Extramadura,
  26. Andalucía, Galiza, Asturies...).  This
  27. band  is  La Polla Records.  They sing
  28. in  Spanish,  and they're quite famous
  29. in  Spain.   At  the  moment they have
  30. about  11  records  out, under Ohiuka,
  31. their   label.   Their  lyrics  are  a
  32. criticism  of  our society, the rotten
  33. politicians  (Demócrata  y cristiano),
  34. the  cops  (El  sitio donde vivo), the
  35. environment  (Un  rayo de Sol) and the
  36. catholic   religion   (Salve).    This
  37. criticism  is  quite  acrid, specially
  38. directed   towards   the  church,  the
  39. fascists  and the government.  Here go

  98. songs are set up:  short but intense.

  101. singer,  Evaristo,  asking everyone to
  102. revolt,   and   swaring   against  the
  103. priests, and all that.  Unfortunately,
  104. you  have to be really good on Spanish
  105. to understand what he says.
  106. Also, some other bands exist, but this
  107. is  the  most  famous.   Some examples
  108. could  be bands more based on Ska than
  109. punk,  perhaps  a  mixture,  like Negu
  110. Gorriak,  Kortatu,  Apártate  ke  piso
  111. mierda,  Extremoduro  and  some  more.
  112. Some  good  Death Metal bands can also
  113. be    found   around:    Necrophyliac,
  114. Sepulcro,  Living Pain, ChocoKrispies,
  115. Frustradicción....  And we also have a
  116. VERY  GOOD Heavy Metal band called Los
  117. Suaves,  which is the best group to be
  118. found  on  Spain.   And  that was all,
  119. hope  you  enjoyed  it,  but  it isn't
  120. through  text  that you'll learn about
  121. music.   You know, you gotta listen to
  122. it.
